FAQ

How do I book an appointment?

To book an appointment either email (pearydonna@gmail.com), or txt/call (021855175)

How often do sessions occur, and how long do they last?

Usually people see me weekly for a while and then go to fortnightly when ready.

A session lasts 1 hour, however if you are coming some distance, or would like to book a longer time, longer sessions can be arranged.

Do you belong to an association?

Yes, I am a full member of New Zealand Christian Counsellor's Association (NZCCA). Each year NZCCA review its members' practice by checking they have undertaken adequate professional development and supervision - including a report from their supervisor. NZCCA also provides collegial support and supports on going training. Although in New Zealand it isn't mandatory for a counsellor to belong to a governing body, I choose to have NZCCA monitor my practice, to enable me to practice ethically and with accountability.

Where are you located?

I am located in Frankton, Hamilton.

What are your counselling and supervision fees?

For information on my fees, please click here

Please discuss with me payment options if you have special circumstances.

How do I pay?

I will invoice you using Hnry. Please pay via the link on the invoice.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Please let me know as soon as you can if you need to cancel, as often I can fill the appointment.

Is everything I tell you confidential?

Counsellors are bound by the privacy act and strict confidentiality. The only exception is if you discuss the intention to hurt yourself or another person. Counsellors also see a supervisor who monitor their practice, however your identity is not shared.

Do I need to prepare before my first session?

Every session I will ask you what you would like to focus on. For the first session it is helpful to think about this prior to seeing me, however I am aware that you might be feeling overwhelmed and find it hard to be specific. That is fine and we can work with whatever you bring.

I don’t live in Hamilton – do you offer online therapy?

Yes I offer Zoom counselling and supervision.

I am nervous about making an appointment – can you tell me what to expect?

At your first session some of our time will be focused on us getting to know each other so you can feel safe with me and confident we can work together. We will also discuss what is bringing you to counselling and what you hope to get out of seeing me. We will also look at some things you can do between sessions to help you manage what is going on for you.
